Mix rate parameter in brush settings
on: September 14, 2020, 01:58:08 PM
Can someone please explain to me what the "mix rate" parameter in the brush settings does. I can't really make it affect anything!
Thank you

It is used by Wet Paint and Smudge tools. It was introduced mainly to optimize the Performance.
It says how often app should mix current brush with layer content.
For example, if you set Mix Rate to 5, app will draw 5 stamp, then mix with layer, then 5 stamp again, then mix.

You should decrease Wetness param when increasing Mix Rate. For Mix Rate = 5 Wetness should be decreased 5 times to get similar results as for Mix Rate = 1.

Typical case is using Mix Rate = Velocity, which samples the layer 60 times per sec, no matter how many stamps are drawn between.
