How to create a pattern

Can someone please write a tutorial for how to create a repeating pattern in Art Studio?

Use offset filter: 50% both sides. There are plenty of tutorials for that on Photoshop nad 3d forums.

In general there are many filters in Artstudio Pro with option Edges: Repeat(Seamless). The most powerful filter for seamless patterns is Filters>Render>Clouds. If you will use only filters with Repeat mode you can create many really great patterns.

Clouds is good if you need one abstract noise pattern. If you need realistic texture, go and buy iColorama. Export your artwork at the resolution you desire as PNG. Open it in iColorama (you may have to live with the max resolution iColorama supports; don't worry, you will realize it when back to ASP). Kill the image - adjustment>brightness 100%>apply. Make it not white: brightness or exposure. Say, 20% gray. Open texture tab and use any texture you want (there are hundreds and all very realistic). Use "raise" to avoid color. Play with them till you get the right texture. Apply. Save as PNG. Bring back to ASP as layer and make it overlay.

This is much faster than scouting internet for the right texture or trying to use ASP tools. And you won't need to create a large library of patterns in ASP too.

You can also import patterns in PAT format - you will find thousands of them on websites like deviantart.com.

Yea, you can spend a lifetime looking through them... Low res seamless patterns are fast but not realistic enough. It really boils down to the question what do you need a pattern for. To get a canvas- or stucco-like feeling for your digital painting is one thing. To go further and create something unique FOR the artwork itself - is a completely different matter. And here iColorama comes handy, because one can use brush>reised and literally paint a pattern over certain areas of the artwork (see attached). No other "pattern" technique can come close to this.

Oh, and one thing that would greatly enhance ASP ability to create random looking texture from image would be the ability to rotate cloned area with clone brush. Silvester said it's impossible to do. Dunno why. One can rotate the stamped brush OK. iColorama has Clone tool that can be rotated randomly or fixed value.
