No File Size in ‘Files’ App info
on: August 04, 2018, 06:25:20 AM
Files App > On My iPad > ArtStudio Pro
Long press on any file there brings up Actions ribbon; at far right is Info
In all other apps, that Info includes File Size (kB, Mb etc).
With files in Art Studio it reads ‘Zero’ for any image.

Don’t know if straightforward to fix, but can be useful to see file size as part of info there.

Thanks for reporting that.
Indeed, file size works fine when storing documents on iCloud, but shows 'zero' when storing Locally.
We will try to reproduce and fix it asap.

We reproduced the problem. And indeed Files app doesn't show file size for .artstudio files stored locally.
But it shows correct size for some other documents, for example for Pages documents.

Unfortunately it seems it is managed by iOS system, so we cannot fix that.

More details: Artstudio Pro uses "Package" mode for .artstudio files, which mean document is stored as a folder, not a file. Files app generally doesn't show the size of folders.
'Package' is used by apps like Pages, Numbers, Swift Playgrounds and few others. iOS system recognizes some 'package' files and show correct file size for them (Pages, Number). But it doesn't recognize all the rest: .artstudio, .playground... We cannot fix it, we defined .artstudio extension correctly, we cannot do anything else to fix it. We can treat it as a bug in iOS 11. iOS 12 has the same problem.

(Sorry for slow response).

Thanks for all that info. ‘Packages’ etc too technical for me to fully understand, but still very interesting. (Not surprised to see IOS playing a part)!

One thing I found is that in Files App > My iPad > ArtStudio Pro, a new folder created there (top of page, or long-press on empty part of Files page) will, unlike with new folders of other Apps, show up in ArtStudio Pro itself.

Don’t know if this is already mentioned or known to other users, but I think it’s a really useful way to gather/Group documents within ArtStudio’s gallery - just as a sub-folder would be used elsewhere.

(Sorry if there’s a grouping/stacking method that I’ve not noticed)...
