Digital Painting brushes not mixing properly
on: February 15, 2023, 07:26:30 AM
So I tried using the brush set ‘digital painting’ n used them over a rectangle I made with the marquee tool. But it doesn’t seem to blending as it should be. The rectangle is on the same layer. Can anyone tell me if there’s a fix?

So first I made a rectangle, and then I tried all the brushes from the ‘digital painting’ category to blend over the rectangle, as you can see from the image, it’s not blending with the rectangle but glazing over it.

Could you show a screenshot showing current layer structure, all tool settings and a brush you used?

I think you have to set Opacity to 100% in tool settings. You can also long press "Digital Round" item in Brushes panel and then tap "Reset" to reset all settings (including Opacity) to default values for this brush.

Didn’t help, I reset the brush and also set the opacity to 100%

Depending on all your settings, you may have to lift the pen and "stroke again rather than just brushing back and forth without lifting the pen.

Also, make sure your layer have Normal blending mode.

Tried it too. It’s behaving more like a glaze, the brush is only affecting the paint strokes it had applied to previously or by other brushes from wet paint category. It doesn’t seem to work otherwise.

I used the same parameters and can confirm…it doesn’t blend at all. Going back to Clipstudio Paint until this is fixed.

I finally reproduced the issue. It seems there is something wrong with “Current and Below” sample mode. Please switch to Current Layer as a temporary workaround. We will fix it asap.

After more researches it seems it was always working like that and i'm not sure it should be modified.

Then what was the point of having the option to blend with current and below layers for? There’s even a blend all layers option in there. I’ve always used current layer anyway but still was wondering how the blend current and below layer was supposed to work because i’ve never seen this done in an art piece. i’ve always used layers for masking…never for smudging colors as the only one that does this successfully is Clipstudio Paint…and that’s a high bar to reach.

Just tested, it works better with blend with current layer turned on. But I agree with Dorothyfan1 that it definitely seems like a bug.

You guys know you can increase the brush's wetness in the settings right...? This is a nonissue
