The fact that if you search for “Art” in the App Store, which is literally in the name of the app, and you don’t see ArtStudio after several minutes of scrolling past arcade games that have nothing to do with art, is pretty obnoxious and unfair.

I’m convinced they’re suppressing ArtStudio because they know it’s insanely more powerful than procreate’s gimmicky nonsense.

I don’t have any artwork you could use promotionally(adult artist), but I’ll definitely recommend the app on my accounts(thousands of followers) when people ask what program I use. I’ve done so quite a few times already.

Pretty sure I’ve made some sales. :D

Accidental palm touches have gone from 5-6 out of 10, to 1 out of 10. A significant improvement.

Is it possible to check the "velocity" of the canvas' position/rotation/zoom by comparing the values from one frame to the next and limit it to a natural speed(or perhaps freeze it in place)? I've had the canvas spin a whole 180 degrees and zoom in 1000% in what felt like 1-2 frames.

This would be great for the occasions the canvas "spazzes out", even if they happen less often now.

Is it really absolutely necessary to check the clipboard so often? Why not only when a cut/paste/copy action is performed?

99% of the time I’m not opening the quick menu to do anything with the clipboard and I have to wait for the pop-up to go away to access tools in the top bar again.

Happens any time I have a photo from the photos app copied in the clipboard. Other menu elements cause it too.

I have to tap copy from the quick menu(with nothing selected) to empty my clipboard to make it stop.

Important note:
Halfway through the video, I try to redo the palm induced accidental undo with no success.
This regularly happens to me after I've made particularly long shading strokes.
This is why it's so infuriating. Poor palm rejection shouldn't be destructive to your work.

- does Artstudio make more accidental "palm strokes" than other apps?
Sometimes I can't redo so most likely. Even with pencil only mode enabled.
- does Artstudio perform more accidental zoom/rotate canvas gestures?
To an excessive degree.
- does Artstudio make more accidental Undo?
An obnoxiously high percentage of the time.
- does Artstudio call more accidental "double-tap" and "triple-tap" actions? (you can enable these actions in Preferences > Gestures)
Haven't seen this happen much. I only have double tap enabled to fill the canvas to the screen, so I'm not sure about triple tap.
- does Artstudio make more accidental 4-finger tap gesture to show Quick Menu?
N/A (Don't have this enabled.)


An alternative suggestion to the deadzone idea:
More aggressive palm rejection on the left or right side of the screen depending on which mode the interface is set to.

Just tested it against procreate and infinite painter. Art studio is objectively 10x worse at palm rejection.

I would say at least HALF the time my palm makes contact with the screen in art studio it will spaz or undo.

I can record a a video later if you don't believe me.

Having to tap a button every time I want to zoom/pan is unacceptable. "Just turn it off" basically. Ridiculous.

I've been using the reference panel to cover the part of the canvas I rest my palm on and it works really well. Adding a transparent "palm rest" mode to it would be fantastic.

Since it seems you can't be bothered, At the very least a simple lock position on the reference panel would suffice. Sometimes my palm will adjust the size of the panel.

I do this as well, but it always detects my palm as two finger touch and spazzes the canvas out. I have to recenter everything constantly. Just now I can’t rest my palm on my iPad without it undoing shit every time. I have to keep my palm glued to the screen for it to behave.

It’s getting really bad. I still think at least a customizable gesture dead-zone would be amazing.

I switch between two iPads (we’ll call them iA and iB) depending on where I am or where I’m going. I opened a pic I was working on today on my other iPad(iA) expecting it to sync like it always does. Except it never did. I went back to my other iPad(iB) to see if it was connected to WiFi, it was. I opened the file in ArtStudio and it was there where I left off. Then I went back to my other iPad(iA) and waited... nothing. Closed and re-opened to app, nothing. Went back to my other iPad(iB) and did the same thing. This time it synced... the old version popped up on the iPad(iB) the recent work was done on. iPad(iA) still shows the same file. It shows that it was modified when I opened the old version on iPad(iA). Usually a version conflict message pops up and I can choose which file to keep. This didn’t happen.

Not happy.

The iCloud sync feature has been really nice and reliable until today. Now I’m extremely apprehensive about using it. Especially for commission work.

I hope this was an isolated incident.

I was literally logging in just now to post about this. I was going to suggest a customizable dead zone for touch input. The left 1/4 of the screen in landscape mode would work well in my case.

Using an anti smudge glove atm to solve this issue.
