I am trying to get that recording, but it seems like my ipad stopped recording before the crash happened... Will try a different way to record today

Tested for about three hours, nine crashes recorded, on average, after 15-18 minutes of drawing. Two were on manual save, three were when opening the layers panel, and the others were either while drawing or just after using transform or elastify.

Just wondering if this might be getting looked into?

It's still happening very often; not sure if Elastify is the culprit or the victim because it's completely unusable right now and crashes the app about 1 in 3 times. Every time I attempt to make a mark on the canvas the app stops recording the mark almost immediately, and takes about 30 seconds to animate the minuscule movement it recorded.

Even without using elastify it's still crashing very often, I just happen to need elastify very badly right now and am kind of stuck. Also in a little bit of panic mode because it's approaching the end of the semester and I need to either figure out another app or deal with the crashing or I will fail classes.

You can access your files by Files app > on my ipad > Artstudio pro!

Also not LuckyClan but I am a developer, and I'm suspecting something hiccuped when the file was deleted. .artstudio files have a thumbnail separate from the layer contents and between crashes, running out of battery, or random miscellaneous weather events sometimes things do hiccup and it's likely your deleted file's layer contents replaced the file that you were working on. Probably no way to get that file back unless you have a backup.

It's a shame artstudio doesn't move deleted files to recently deleted section in the Files app, and rather outright deletes them with no chance of retrieval other than external backup.

Not sure if y'all are aware or not but erase blending is (kinda) in already. It's a little wonky but if you set Smudge to dynamics > opacity > pressure/whatever and minimum opacity at zero, you can get erase blending. Opacity at zero is an eraser, opacity at 100 is a blender.

Don't know if you figured this out for yourself yet or not but if smudge isn't at 100% opacity it will erase the current layer a bit. So, if you want blending with no erasing, turn dynamics>opacity off and set the opacity to 100

Again I work with very large files, often 11x17in or 16x20in in 300dpi, often with layers that number at least in the triple digits when I'm done. I've never had significant lagging or crashing in blending or elastify since the last crash-fest I reported, so this is definitely something new as of 3.1.3 or 3.1.4. It sounds like a classic memory leak especially since it takes actions to build up. I can leave the app sitting open for an hour and it won't crash if I don't make any changes to the canvas. If I work slower, the app crashes less frequently.

3.1.5 might have fixed some of the memory leak, since it's crashing less often now, but it still crashes. Also, might be related to this issue: https://www.luckyclan.com/forum/index.php?topic=2192.0

10.5 inch ipad pro, 2018 model, ios 14.4.1, artstudio 3.1.5.

The current version (3.1.5) is slightly more stable than the previous, but I'm still getting crashes most commonly when blending or using elastify or saving. Happens roughly every 20 minutes or so.

Not sure if it's related, but I just had two back to back crashes when using Elastify. It was acting much more sluggish than normal. 3300x5100 canvas, 45 layers; this is about half the size and 1/3 how many layers I usually use

I do have imported brushes but I wasn't using any (was using custom made in artstudio) when the crashes happened.

It seems to crash less often when the canvas size is smaller.
