Hello,

after having used Artstudio for quiet some hours now, going back to photoshop on my PC feels like a hassle. However there are still two things that still keeps me from switching over 100%.

The first thing is a pathing tool. I think it’s super essential to make precise selections and would benefit a lot of people imo.

The other thing that bugs me is the file handling or the gallery in general. It’s really bad and procreate is doing a better job at integrating iCloud or the Filesystem of the iPad into the App. The menu looks outdated and is unnecessarily complex. Simple drag and drop gestures here would also improve the workflow a lot.

Besides these two points I really enjoy the app and even more if my suggestions get implemented!

Hey there,

after I played around with the beta for a bit, I found besides some points that have alreay been mentioned just one little flaw that would be cool if you can fix it before the release.

When using the new freehand lasso, I noticed that when you do quick strokes, the selection-line becomes quiet edgy. I guess this could be easily fixable by increasing the frequency in which the lasso gets a new position input from the stylus. Also while selecting, I noticed a strange glitchy behaviour when trying to rotate or zoom the canvas.

Besides that I was wondering what the hot-menu entry "mirror" really does? It seems like it`s flipping the canvas but when I look at the layers they are still in the original orientation. So adding a true flip horizontal AND ALSO flip vertical where the content of all layers is affected would be great.

I`ll keep experimenting but besides that I`m very pleased where it goes!

Thanks for the fast reply! Awesome then I can`t wait for the new update!!

About the other things:

- Brush Rotation - I am not talking about dynamis, but more like adapting the current brush to a specific situation. Take for example an elliptic brush. Depending on the orientation (vertical or horizontal) you get different results. It would be cool to be able to rotate the brush to fit the situation. Otherwise I have to rotate the canvas and more or less guess.
With a slider I could make a stroke, see if the result fits and if not just rotate it a bit more. I hope it`s clear what I mean otherwise I will post an example.

- Color Wheel. Well I think the wheel combined with a triangle is just a more natural way of showing the colors and their relation to each other. A squared map also does the job of course but in color theory you generally talk about color wheels and not squares.

The fact that you are planning a pen tool for future updates is amazing and I`m so looking forward to it! Can you give a clue when that might happen and how long it`ll take until we can download 1.4? :)

Hello,

after working now with your app for around two weeks, I have to say that I`m impressed by the capabilities of my iPad Pro. Without talking around the topic I would like to list a few features, that I would love to see implemented in a future release.

-> Lasso Selection - Pls do it like the guys from Procreate.
-> Path/Pen Tool - Essential to make precise selections!
-> Rotate the brush - I imagine a third slider next to Flow and Size that can change the orientation of the brush.
-> Color wheel - The squared color map is not very professional. A wheel would be awesome.
-> Customisable shortcuts. The idea of having shortcuts for a bluetooth keyboard is awesome! But I would like to customise it to my needs.
-> Add more shortcut-functions. I think you should be able to be able to set a shortcut for every menu entry. For example flipping the canvas.


Honestly if these changes are made, I can see myself ditching Photoshop (to a certain degree). I am a professional designer and think that you created an awesome piece of software here! Now please don`t stop improving it!

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Is the implementation of a path tool planned?

Hey fellas,

as the title suggests, I was wondering if an implementation of a path tool is planned for a future update? I'm really curious to try out the software but the similarities to procreate are still too big to make the change. I love the design of the interface and the layer management a lot. The missing path tool is the only thing that's really holding me back since also the lasso selection (as seen in a video review) is not as refined as in procreate. I got a copy of Affinity but the performance is not good enough and I'm not a big fan of the interface either. Artstudio seems to be right in the middle and I'd love to give it a try if a future update is adding more functionality on making selections.
