Select from centre

If I select with the ellipse tool, it describes the ellipse from one corner to another as I drag the selection. Is it possible to select from the centre outward? Same for the rectangle selection?

Yes, if you click on the the 3 dots on the left while you have select tool active, it opens the settings for select tool, and you can toggle the switch „from center“ :)
