You can sort of mix colors in a traditional manner, if you choose the right colors to begin with. I learned this from Kyle Webster in a Photoshop demo. If you want to make green from blue and yellow, you have to choose a blue and a yellow that's in the "green direction". Once you make your green from that, you can play around with it.

I did this in ASP.

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / ArtStudioPro Mac version
on: December 17, 2022, 01:57:09 PM
Hi...

Are you still developing the Mac desktop version? Is there a v5 for desktop?

I've been playing with ArtRage and Krita (Photoshop is my main painting app) and the brushes in ArtStudioPro are much better, in my opinion, than either of those apps. I'd hate to put time in the desktop version of ASP if it's not going to be developed any longer.

Thanks!
Bob

That's a shame. Wish I knew that before buying the app.

Guess it's back to Photoshop...

OK I sort of solved this problem by using an app called PurRef: https://www.pureref.com/

I can have my reference image over the ASP window, even on a Mac. I just can't color pick from it.

Still would be nice to have a reference image in ASP and the ability to have to documents side by side.

Help / Pan Doesn't Stay Panned
on: May 24, 2022, 10:59:20 AM
Weird title, I know! Basically, since a document in ASP takes up the entire main window and can't really be moved, I tried panning the document area to one side so I can possible have a reference image over the area next to the panned document, but if I click anywhere after that, the panned document moves back to it's original position. Hope this makes sense.

I bought this app (desktop version) mainly for the brush engine. I mainly use Photoshop, and this looked like a good purely paint option. I think it needs some "fixes" before any new features are added. It's almost "there", but seems to fall short on some basic functionality.

That's just my two cents.

It probably needs to be changed to a mixer brush. You can play with the settings in the brush editor.

Help / Brushes disapear after I click on them
on: May 08, 2022, 08:08:46 PM
Hi...

Using the Mac desktop version of ASP, when I click on a brush and start painting, the brush in the brush palette disappears. I imported some Photoshop brushes and it did it on those. Then It also happened with the brushes that come with ASP.

Any idea why that would happen?
Thanks.

Help / How to record painting.
on: May 08, 2022, 08:06:23 PM
Hi...
I'm on the desktop version of ASP.

I've tried several times to record myself painting and the results are not what I expected. I would scroll to Canvas Recording>Recording, start painting, select Recording again. Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes I just get the stroke on the canvas but not the process of me painting it. Not sure what the finished recording is supposed to look like,. either.

Thanks!

Hi..
Is there anyway to implement real color mixing? I came across this site and apparently, they've figured out a way to digitally mix paint as it's done with real pigments.

Here's the link to the site. https://scrtwpns.com/mixbox/

Thanks!

Hi...

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but it would be nice to show two open documents side by side as well as being able to open a reference image to view within the interface, rather than doing that split view which really isn't the same thing.
