Help / (Desktop Version) LUT From Photo
on: July 12, 2023, 04:42:07 PM
Is it possible to get a LUT or color palette from a photo? Since color picking from a photo is a little cumbersome, this would at least get the colors from the photo into a color palette for use in painting.

Thanks.

Where is the Reference Viewer Window?

Is there a way to see two (multiple) documents at the same time? It seems you can only click on one at a time and the other is hidden.

I'm trying desperately to use this app as my main painting app, but I keep hitting roadblocks that never seem to be addressed.

Thanks.

Is there a way to bring in a reference image into ASP on MAC? I can't see two open windows at the same time, so I figures there was another way to bring in a reference image.

Thanks.

It works if the the brush is set to Pigment and the layer is set to normal. If the Layer is set to Pigment, then it still mixes with the locked layer.

The pigment mixing is affecting locked layers. I like to work with a "toned" layer underneath the painting layers, but I don't want to affect that layer, so I put all three locks on and the pigment mixing is still affected by the locked layer.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Help / Mac: Locked Layers are Affected By Layers Above
on: March 13, 2023, 03:30:55 PM
Hi...

I like to have a layer that has color on it as a background that I don't actually paint on. It's locked (all three places). If I paint on a Pigment layer above the locked layer, it affects the Pigment layer.

Ex. Locked layer is filled solid blue. I paint yellow on a Pigment layer above it and it mixes with it to make green.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Help / Mac: Keep Document to One Side of Interface
on: March 11, 2023, 07:28:15 PM
I can't seem to keep the document I'm working on to the right or left of the interface. It always pops back to the center if I move anything. I use reference images which cover the canvas and some of the palettes take up a lot of screen space (which UI was more customizable).

Not talking about Tile Window. That's something different.

Thanks!

So, is the Mac version of ASP going to continue development? It seems stuck and definitely has some problems that make it a bit of a challenge to work with. I love the brush engine, but the rest of the app can use some work.

If it's not going to continue, I wish you would say so. I get the iPad version makes more money, but then at least give an update form the future of the Mac version.

Thanks!

In the desktop version, I click on the color square (basically, it's the current color). The Color Editor pops up. At the bottom of that, there are a few Swatch categories to pic, One is Skin Tones.

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Further Development on Mac Version

Just wondering how much development there will be on the Mac version? I ask questions in the forums and never seem to get answers.

The pigment mixing is great, but the Mac version needs quite a few improvements to make it "every day usable".

The color editor (in the Mac version) has a swatch set called Skin Tones.

There doesn't seem to be nearly a many people using the Mac version as the iPad version and it doesn't seem to get the same attention.

I love that the pigment mixing is making it's way over, but I've asked lots of questions about the Mac version that never get answered. Not sure how to get that changed...

Depending on all your settings, you may have to lift the pen and "stroke again rather than just brushing back and forth without lifting the pen.

Also, make sure your layer have Normal blending mode.
