I just noticed when turning on rulers that you can’t set the point of origin. This is a critical feature when using ruler guides in ANY application worth its salt. You have to be able to set the point of origin in any situation that requires measurement and ASP doesn’t have it. Therefore it’s practically useless to use the ruler for any serious measuring. I’m also noticing you can’t change the ruler units of measure. Right now it’s set to millimeters. But you can’t use inches. Why the lack of converting line measurements and switching between units of measure?

Thanks for the video, we are working on this now.

That’s good. Can you give an estimate when we can expect this to get fixed? Like hopefully sometime this weekend, perhaps?

It seems this bug affects the other palettes as well. I’m noticing it happens with the color palette too. That video proves it.

If it was behind other palettes and you click its icon (star) on the toolbar. This doesn’t bring it to the front, unlike other palettes.

Confirmed. However, I notice that if you DOUBLE tap the star icon it does come to the front. But you’re only supposed to click it ONCE for the toolbar to appear at all. It doesn’t come to the front when it’s already behind other palettes. This is correct and this appears to be a bug. The workaround is to tap the star icon TWICE to get it to the front of the other palettes. But I suspect this is not the intended action when clicking on the star icon to begin with.

When you start ASP you’re greeted with a blank black background. Wouldn’t it be neat if we could choose our own wallpaper for ASP backgrounds? So whenever you open ASP…you see your chosen wallpaper as the background when opening the app. I think this would be nice to have.

I’m not sure if the following is a bug or a “feature”. As an example, I opened ASP and created a document 8x11 300 dpi landscape. Once this was created I manually “rotated” the document and proceeded to create a “portrait” in portrait mode in this document. But when I completed the artwork and saved it…ASP immediately saved it in “landscape” mode so the artwork was shifted to go “sideways”…as since I had created the document originally in landscape mode. I’m not sure if this is a feature or a bug.

Wouldn’t it be possible to create documents in landscape orientation but proceed to create artwork paintings or artwork in portrait mode and having the document saved in portrait mode even though the document was originally created to be landscape? Thanks.

Preferences -> Gesture -> Offset. Set everything to 0 and cross would be right under your finger.

Perfect!! Now it works as I’d like it to be.

I think it is by design if I understand you right. I always get hillbilly-crazy when the colors are under my finger and not a bit away so that I can use the crosshair to pick the correct color. But you maybe meant something else. A setting that alters the offset of the puck might be handy if it's not already there?

Yes. A setting to offset the distance from the finger touching the area would be helpful. And yes, I do mean the area where my finger is touching the screen should be the area the puck or crosshair should be picking up. Instead it literally goes haif an inch outside the width of my finger. That’s not how it should work. Procreate’s version is far superior because it does what you’d expect it to do…get the color of the area your finger is touching on the screen.

When I use my finger to select the color to use for my next color gradient while painting…the puck goes too far from where my finger is touching. Please allow the puck to correctly reflect the location of the finger touching the color. If you need a demo of what I’m referring to please look at Infinite Painter for how this should be done.

Not sure if it is a bug, but reference photos do not seem to be tied to the document.
For example I create document 1 that uses reference photo A.
Then I create a new document 2 which uses reference photo B.
Then exit.
Next day I reopen document 1, but reference photo B is displayed, where I would have thought reference photo A would have been.

Confirmed. This is a bug. But the result I’m getting is the second document opens but shows the second photo correctly. It’s the fact it doesn’t show the first document AT ALL.

We never encountered that, and nobody reported similar issue.
Please send us as many details as possible (at [email protected]), screen video may be helpful...

As I mentioned in the original post I said it may not be demonstrable because this issue is RARE, but I’ve seen this problem happen several times before. ASP suddenly without warning stops letting me add paint to a layer after immediately adding a new one to color line art in a previous layer.

103
Just noticed this right now. I completed a line art drawing and added a new layer below to color the line art. Without warning ASP stopped letting me add any paint to the new layer. This is clearly not correct because I’ve been able to do this repeatedly before with no issues. I was forced to copy and paste the artwork into another program to complete the painting process. This behavior may not be repeatable for demonstration purposes because it’s a rare issue. However this is not the first time I’ve seen this happen. I just thought to put this out there as a warning. I think the devs have to look at this one.

Any chance the option for an isometric grid could be added?

At some point this should be added. This would be great for overlaying photo references and using this to make exact line drawings.

I got the update and tested it. So far no freezing. I’d say it’s fixed…unless it’s not. I don’t know honestly until I get the chance to work on a project. There are two things holding me back.

1. The lack of paper template color options. Everything is white. I’d appreciate it if ASP could have other paper template options other than white. One reason why I keep going back to Procreate is because it has a much wider selection of paper template color options. I don’t have to manually create paper textures to work in. I just grab a paper color texture and I’m good to go. Yes ASP has color choices but unfortunately they’re just plain flat colors. Paper texture is a different beast altogether and this is seriously lacking in ASP.

2. I’ve mentioned this issue before and I’ll say it again here…but the transform tool doesn’t deselect after making a selection action and you MUST remember to deselect the transform tool before using another tool. This is another big reason I’m still using Procreate. I’m able to make a selection and afterwards I can immediately go to another tool and work on the object without worrying about deselecting the transform tool. ASP has got to offer this ability. Once ASP gets this ability then working in ASP will be almost as seamless as Procreate. Right now I have to manually deselect the transform tool before moving onto another tool. This is a pain. Which brings me to another problem…and that is there is no visual cue telling me the transform tool is still active. I can’t tell if the transform tool is off after I stop using it and only realize it’s still active because I can’t get back to my drawing tools because of this issue. Please address this and then you can see Borodante doing another happy dance.
