I cannot reproduce the issue. Long press on color swatch is always working on my iPad.

Does the color swatch need to have focus get the option to rearrange and delete? Because I tried this on a color swatch that didn't have any focus and I didn't get the popup menu option.

There seems to be an inconsistent issue using the Apple Pencil and my fingers in ASP when trying to delete or rearrange color swatches.. When selecting color swatches for either deletion or rearranging I get this inconsistent popup to delete or rearrange them when using either the Apple Pencil or my fingers. It’s a case of “ASP loves me. ASP loves me not” issue. Sometimes you hit the color swatch with the Apple Pencil or your finger and you get the popup saying you can delete or rearrange the groups. But then when I go back to the same color swatch by clicking on the group icon the message doesn’t appear anymore. What’s with that behavior? Then I go to another color swatch and I get the message again. I go to another one and the message doesn’t appear. What’s going on here? I’m sorry but I think this is an issue that needs fixing.

Edit: I want to be clear on this. This is NOT an iPad issue at all. I’m able to select any of the other panels in ASP and I don’t get this inconsistent behavior anywhere else. I can tap any of the other panels and everything responds quickly as I’d expect them to. I’m not getting any inconsistent behavior when using the Apple Pencil when using it to select any of the toolbars or using brushes on artwork. I’m getting this issue only with the color swatch popups for rearranging groups and deleting.

Edit: I think this issue has been addressed? Apparently one has to “select” the color swatch to see the orange highlight on the group name before choosing the swatch to get the option to rename, rearrange and delete? I’m still watching this one. There might still be an issue with this here.

Hey Lucky Clan, I’m also a user of Infinite Painter. Take a look at their implementation of the luminosity lock. It’s a toggle on the wheel itself. You press it and if you click on the hue on the circle...it causes the inner hockey puck to move to the correct value of the new color without changing the hue. Really cool. Oh..in case you were wondering before Borodante switched over to Photoshop full time he also requested this feature should be implemented. My suggestion shouldn’t be too hard to include...and I also think this needs to be done for the next MINOR release. Don’t you think?

154
Just thought I’d let you know the rumored new feature of the next Apple Pencil is a doozy. Apparently the next version will allow you to touch the surface of any colored texture and it will copy that color onto the Apple Pencil so it can immediately color any area on the.iPad with that color. Okay Lucky Clan...looks like you’ll have to update ASP on just this one new feature alone if the rumors are true.

155
So who’s gonna be promoting ASP on Youtube now?

Actually he is using Photoshop more, and a huge screen-tablet.

Thanks :)

In procreate you can create palette from photo, but not from screen outside app.
We will add similar option soon

It is not possible to sample outside app for a simple reason. As sampling color needs access to pixels, it is like reading content. Lets say you have Notes app open with all your passwords. Would you give access to it to app from the App Store?

Point understood. Question...can you consider allowing ASP to have multiple instance support? So we could open ASP side by side?

I think iOS app cannot get access to view from other apps. Did you see similar feature in any other app?

Is that an ironclad rule by Apple? That they don’t allow this because I know in Windows you can definitely have apps that use color samplers that use web browsers sampling colors outside the environment. I don’t see why this wouldn’t be allowed. It’s a color sampler. That’s all. It’s not changing the environment outside the app to accomplish this. Otherwise magnifier tools wouldn’t be allowed in iOS apps...which require access to the API to see outside of its own screen to resize elements to be called magnifiers.

And just as an example...Procreate does have a color palette by photo option...which allows it to “see” outside the app to take snapshots to create color palettes. Clearly, a color sampler in ASP that samples colors outside the environment is not only possibleI don’t see why this should be forbidden. But I suppose as a developer you have the right to ask Apple if this would be allowed. I don’t see what the harm is to simply ask.

Right now the only way the color picker works is if the image is inside ASP for it to pick up color. It would be really handy if when using ASP in side by side mode or slide over mode to sample colors OUTSIDE the ASP environment. This would be super cool. Hey Lucky Clan...how about this one?

I’m noticing that Procreate doesn’t have an Emboss property at all. That’s a serious limitation of Procreate because if you want to add a sense of volume to certain areas of the drawing or painting, the emboss property would really help. Especially in areas that have dark colors  which tend to look flat without adding a sense of volume. Artstudio Pro crushes Procreate in this area.

There’s a 24 color swatch limit in ASP?! This can’t be right. I’ve imported the Copic Color Swatch with 384 colors. What I would like to see is ASP allowing color swatch libraries to be opened SEPARATELY so you can pick and choose the colors with multiple color swatches open at the same time. Very handy. Right now only one color swatch can be opened at any one time. Not convenient.

I love the 3D brush tool in ASP. In fact I love it so much I'm wondering if you can give the exact settings to use to recreate this for ANY brush in ASP. Because this 3D brush is so cool. It allows me to create interesting shapes immediately. So any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I’m surprised this isn’t in ASP...the ability to open a toolbar with a list of all the actions made during a project. An snapshot action toolbar would allow you to click on the history to go to an earlier stage in a project to test different ideas. This would be a really great thing to have. I’ll give you a hint...Procreate doesn’t have this. But Photoshop does. Any takers?

Currently the way you can close toolbars automatically in ASP is if you don’t move them after you activate them after selecting their icons on the menubar. Now if you MOVE the toolbars after you choose to open them they stay on the desktop so you can keep doing your work without them disappearing. That’s great. But the same icons that allow you to place them on the desktop should also have the ability to close the toolbars even after you move the toolbars.

For example, you might have the Brush Library, the color swatch and the layer panels open on opposite sides of your canvas on the iPad. But now after they’ve been moved the only way to close them is to manually click the x button with the Apple Pencil on the toolbars to close them. However I’m wondering whether the mechanism which allows ASP to let them be opened with a mouse click can also allow them to close the toolbars even after they’re moved. This way you don’t have to manually close each toolbar separately since you’d only have to click the same icons again to close them. This can be done right now...but only if the toolbars aren’t moved after you open them up. It would be nice if we had the ability to close them even after they’ve moved by simply hitting the icons again.

I’m not complaining as it is. It’s fine...but I was just thinking how it might make things go more quickly if we had the ability to close the toolbars even after they’re moved by simply hitting their icons again.

Now the question is when app should lose the Favorite item selection.
It is obvious that it should happen after changing active tool. But when else?
After changing brush? After changing any tool parameter? Only after picking another Fav item?

I think the issue might be related to WHEN the brushes panel opens. For example...I can't open the brushes panel when choosing the brush icon on the left side. I can only open the brush panel using the brush SIZE icon on the far right. Intuitively one would think the brush panel should open when choosing one of the brush icons on the LEFT side of the menu bar. Now that the Favorites Preset Toolbar exists it should take precedence over the brush settings listed on the toolbar on the left side. Then you can assign the opening of the brush panel from the icons listed in the menubar. This way there would be no conflict with the Favorite Preset Toolbar listing.

Upon further thought...I think the Preset Favorites Toolbar should allow you to open the Brush Panel as well. Since it houses all your favorite brushes you should be able to open the Brush Panel from here and edit the settings of the brush. Then you can close the Brush panel when finishing editing the settings while the Favorites Preset Toolbar can remain open while using the brush on the canvas. So this means if you select the Brush Panel SEPARATELY without touching the Preset Favorites Toolbar...the actions you take on the brushes are TEMPORARY. So if you open the Brushes panel separately everything done here is relative to the brush setting. But if you open the Favorites Preset Toolbar...and open the Brush Panel from HERE...all the brush settings become permanent because your favorite brushes are listed in the Preset Favorites Toolbar. I think this should be the way to go to avoid confusion.
