Nah, it keeps coming back. The bug that turns off the Noise setting keeps returning.
It's seems to be either related to minimizing the app, closing / opening canvases, editing brush settings and switching between Eraser / Brush modes, or something else entirely.

While I like the Noise setting, I've decided to just turn it off for now as I would rather not have deal with inconsistent line-art, and general buggyness.

The pictures on the original post were lost, but thats ok.

I believe I have discovered the issue, and the issue was the >Allow opening multiple documents, option under Preferences < General. At least, I think that's what it was, I haven't had an issue since turning it off.

I will post again If i run into this issue again.

This will be weird to explain, I apologize for that.

Frequently I need to refresh the app (by fully closing / reopening) as there are some settings in the brushes I use that seem to glitch out or turn off, even though they are clearly on. I am not really clear on what causes this glitch.
One of the more noticeable changes is the Noise option, under General.

the lines on the left are the incorrect lines, with their settings glitched out. the lines are on the right, circled in "refreshed" are the correct ones. I know it's probably hard to see, but noise option is not applying to the lines on the left.

To help make this a bit more clear, I've turned off the noise *Pattern*, which different from the noise edge.

Speculation: I'm currently not sure what is causing this, be it setting changes through the sizing / opac / flow bar on the left, or a possible weird memory leak - as this usually appears 'the next day' when I've picked up the drawing pad to draw again.

Sorry, lots of edits.

Further discovery!

You can group the layers together and apply the Add option to the group whole, removing the need to merge the layers. Lets you erase and edit.

I'm unsure if you all have seen my recent post, so I shall repost here as well.

A way has been found! I know it's an old thread, but I figure having some clarity/ finality to it would be good.

There's a way for ASP to match Procreate's Add lighting layer option.
Simply color the layer you want entirely black, and color on it that way, or merge the lights you have to a black layer below it and enable the Add option then.

You guys are doing great! We just love ASP that much.

Update: I've now noticed that if you have moved the canvas at an angle, or anywhere that is not on a side, and then 'Undo' then the image will blur and pixelate. the same will apply for the selection tool, as the marching-ants selection lines will not show up unless the canvas is on a side.

Attached some pics.

I am experiencing the same pixeling issues.

From what I have seen, it most commonly occurs when I undo, but it is very inconsistent.

As the title says, my bluetooth keyboard will lose all keybinds, minus Tab, the arrow keys, and the F keys (F1, F2, etc.)
This happens when typing in new layer names, or when you lock the layers window, and the color pallet window.
I do not know if this happens to all bluetooth keyboards, but the one I currently use is a cheapo Omotion Wireless Keyboard

A quick fix to this is to simply go back to the main Art Studio Pro canvas menu, then reopen the canvas you are working on.

I'll do my best to explain this one, but one of the things that drives a few people away from ASP (Art Studio Pro) are certain layer lighting options, such as Linear Dodge - Add. I feel a little bad using Procreate as a direct comparison, but this is true for other programs as well. If I save a PSD from ASP and directly reupload it to another app like Proc with the same exact settings, I will get a different picture if I am using those layer lighting settings.

Edit: Specifically specifically, it would be nice if the lighting options did more than just turn white.

The specific settings in question are:

  • Lighten
  • Linear Dodge - Add
  • Vivid Light
  • Hard Mix

Here are a few pics illustrating the differences. This first example is using the "Linear Dodge - Add" layer setting.

And this is the same PSD and settings moved over to Procreate

EDIT: Adding a note here that Clip studio Paint can do the same thing, but Photoshop cannot.

Here is a larger graph comparing lighting options. The vertical colored lines are stable, the horizontal lines are the ones with the specific layer setting.

You are right. I never discovered that but I'm probably never up there painting. ???

Sometimes I accidentally start up there to draw a very long line and end up drawing nothing, it's a bit annoying.

I noticed this a while ago too, and wrote this thread about it. https://www.luckyclan.com/forum/index.php?topic=2570.msg6684#msg6684

I agree with those suggestions, though I think it would also be possible to make them simply as icons, similar to Procreate does, to save some space in the Top Menu.

There's a section on the right of the Top Menu that is blank which will not allow you to start drawing from. You can draw in the area itself, but only if you started the 'drawing point' off of this area.

It's a little silly, but I can tell by whether or not by looking at the background. The image I'm currently trying to save has no background, making it transparent, so when I see it has a white background in the photos app, I know it saved as a jpg instead of a png. Also there's some artifacting. To compare, I save an image with no background from Procreate, which shows a black background, indicating that there's nothing there.

So, if there's a white background + artifacting = jpg, which this image certainly does contain.

Possible note worth mentioning, prior to saving I actually changed the size of the canvas's dimensions. It seems to have a factor in how saving behaves, especially in smaller sizes.

As far as the image saving goes, normally I'd understand, except in this case I'm saving an image that's only 250x150ish.
