I was just doing a digital drawing and opened up the Brushes panel onscreen. And when I tried changing my selection on the Brushes panel I realized it was frozen and was not responding to any Apple Pencil clicks. As of right now I cannot use ASP reliably as there are too many glitches going on. Freezing panels on screen are a sign something is seriously wrong. I’m forced to go over to Procreate until these freezing issues in ASP are addressed.

I got the update and tested it. So far no freezing. I’d say it’s fixed…unless it’s not. I don’t know honestly until I get the chance to work on a project. There are two things holding me back.

1. The lack of paper template color options. Everything is white. I’d appreciate it if ASP could have other paper template options other than white. One reason why I keep going back to Procreate is because it has a much wider selection of paper template color options. I don’t have to manually create paper textures to work in. I just grab a paper color texture and I’m good to go. Yes ASP has color choices but unfortunately they’re just plain flat colors. Paper texture is a different beast altogether and this is seriously lacking in ASP.

2. I’ve mentioned this issue before and I’ll say it again here…but the transform tool doesn’t deselect after making a selection action and you MUST remember to deselect the transform tool before using another tool. This is another big reason I’m still using Procreate. I’m able to make a selection and afterwards I can immediately go to another tool and work on the object without worrying about deselecting the transform tool. ASP has got to offer this ability. Once ASP gets this ability then working in ASP will be almost as seamless as Procreate. Right now I have to manually deselect the transform tool before moving onto another tool. This is a pain. Which brings me to another problem…and that is there is no visual cue telling me the transform tool is still active. I can’t tell if the transform tool is off after I stop using it and only realize it’s still active because I can’t get back to my drawing tools because of this issue. Please address this and then you can see Borodante doing another happy dance.

1. Developers shouldn’t do app that can fit one person needs. You can easily add textures you want to background. You can make template file with textures, duplicate when you need to work on new file. It’s really not a problem.

2. I’m totally fine that selection is still on after transform tool is done. It’s absolutely normal behavior. If you compare selections in Procreate and ASP, I’d say that Procreate had and still has terrible selection tools. That’s the main reason why I moved to ASP year and half ago. Procreate works much more fluent that ASP, but ASP is more functional and convenient.
