Pattern size not following brush size like in Procreate
on: February 04, 2021, 11:26:13 AM
I've noticed when changing brush size the brush pattern does not scale with the size of the brush. This is possible in Procreate and is great for concept art where you create depth in a painting, with smaller textures far away and larger textures that are closer.

This seems like a big downside to Artstudio to me.

Indeed most brushes in Artstudio defines texture in 'Pattern' section, and it doesn't scale with changing brush size. We will consider improving that in version 3.1 (optional).

However you can do it even now. Just define texture in 'Aux Stamp' section: use 'Mutating' mode and set Movement to 100%. This kind of texture will scale together with brush.

I would be very happy if you added it. Thank you!

If you want to, go into procreate and play around with the textures and see how useful it is :)

Pattern scale similar to procreate - there is such option in Artstudio!
You have to enable "Aux Stamp", use "Mutating" mode and turn on "Keep Size Ratio" switch.
You can also set Movement to 100% to make Aux Stamp working as pattern.

Thank you. It works as a work around.

I hope you implement it in the pattern settings though. It would make the most sense.
