Using the app on iPadPro 2018 with Apple Pencil 2, experience exactly what this user showed.

http://www.luckyclan.com/forum/index.php?topic=744.0

Why was it suggested that the user not use pencil.
Is the pencil tool broken, as in not-usable as designed due to bug, until further notice, or is there a way to get the non-hard smooth stroke?

When used, it is not by default working
Whereas, in the Traditional ArtStudio app on iOS, both hard & smooth pencil variants are working.

Thank you!

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Idea: More fine tuning for Aux color
« Last post by Jugibur on December 12, 2018, 10:38:06 AM »
I'm trying to get the effect, that the color darkens a bit if I pressed down harder.
The Aux color seems a good base in pricple, but seems a bit limited in tweaking.
If I choose black, the painting gets black of course.

Perhaps you could be more settings for aux color in one of the next versions?
Say something like Blending mode and opacity? So additional shadowing or lightening would be possible. Would be great!

This is an idea I really like. Clip Studio Paint has it and I find it very useful in illustration. Thank you.

I agree, I think there could be some very useful possibilities.

Similar feature was requested many times. We will probably do it next year.
It is always a choice between clean interface and number of actions available with a single tap.

Thank you, I'll try to be patient!  ;D

C'mon, three vertical palettes today is the best, most natural and most economic way of selecting the right color. We've waited for it for long time. If you want to turn an existing art into a palette, duplicate it, max pixelate, shrink and move it to the corner. This way you'll have what you want: a permanent palette.

How is it economic? I'll admit that it's precise, but the separate sliders fragments and compartmentalizes the color space. So the tendency is that you change one dimension but not the others. When I want to mimic the effect of saturated light on an object, I don't just want to saturate the selected value, I want to increase the value and shift the hue towards the color of the light. Having to stop to drag all sliders hampers the ability to maintain life and vibrancy while painting fluidly.

Unless you are making simplistic pieces, there is no point abiding by a palette beyond an initial stage as you cannot mix colors naturally in a digital environment like Artstudio. The most common way to work for professionals is to move vertically and laterally on the color map used in pretty much every art program out there, nudging in various directions to get the hues you want and maintaining variety. I love the option to use RGB and LAB sliders but they're not really fluid and intuitive "workhorse" tools in the way a square (or my favorite, triangle) color map is.

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Suggestion: Free placeable "HotKeys" on Tablet
« Last post by Jugibur on December 11, 2018, 05:20:02 PM »
I really love the painting engine but on thing I'm missing from Paintstorm: The Hotkeys.

They are the fastest and most individual way to execute functions of the app (and brushes), because they can be placed free on the screen. So an artist could be configure the screen and his tools in the way he like it.

So with hotkeys you could press and hold with a finger of your free hand to execute a function.

Examples:

Press and hold the corrosponding hotkey and...
- change the brush size  / flow with moving the pen up and down
- change a special brush parameters temporarly, i.e. deactivate auto clean for "dirty painting"
- protect the transparency for a short use (no clicking to menus)
- use the pen as color picker
- show a color palette and/or the color wheel directly under the pen
- show a "favorites"-list of brushes or change the brush with moving the pen up and down
- show the "4-finger-panel" for additional functions

Some hotkeys could be always on stage, some could be hidden and only shown for extended use.

Currently it happens often to me, that I accidentally change the slider settings on the right if I'm painting quickly.
And as a right hand painter the right side placement of the sliders aren't always ideal to access.

Would be great to hear what you think about it. And thanks for your great work!

Sometimes it's very good to preview the transformation before hitting "done". Without box, handles, etc.
