I’m not sure if the following is a bug or a “feature”. As an example, I opened ASP and created a document 8x11 300 dpi landscape. Once this was created I manually “rotated” the document and proceeded to create a “portrait” in portrait mode in this document. But when I completed the artwork and saved it…ASP immediately saved it in “landscape” mode so the artwork was shifted to go “sideways”…as since I had created the document originally in landscape mode. I’m not sure if this is a feature or a bug.

Wouldn’t it be possible to create documents in landscape orientation but proceed to create artwork paintings or artwork in portrait mode and having the document saved in portrait mode even though the document was originally created to be landscape? Thanks.

When I use my finger to select the color to use for my next color gradient while painting…the puck goes too far from where my finger is touching. Please allow the puck to correctly reflect the location of the finger touching the color. If you need a demo of what I’m referring to please look at Infinite Painter for how this should be done.

Just noticed this right now. I completed a line art drawing and added a new layer below to color the line art. Without warning ASP stopped letting me add any paint to the new layer. This is clearly not correct because I’ve been able to do this repeatedly before with no issues. I was forced to copy and paste the artwork into another program to complete the painting process. This behavior may not be repeatable for demonstration purposes because it’s a rare issue. However this is not the first time I’ve seen this happen. I just thought to put this out there as a warning. I think the devs have to look at this one.

I was just doing a digital drawing and opened up the Brushes panel onscreen. And when I tried changing my selection on the Brushes panel I realized it was frozen and was not responding to any Apple Pencil clicks. As of right now I cannot use ASP reliably as there are too many glitches going on. Freezing panels on screen are a sign something is seriously wrong. I’m forced to go over to Procreate until these freezing issues in ASP are addressed.

Was doing a drawing when I decided to use the transform tool to move an object. After moving the object with the transform tool and selecting the paint tool again…I couldn’t continue drawing because ASP wasn’t allowing me to continue drawing. I tried making sure the paint tool was active but it still wouldn’t respond to my clicks and wouldn’t let me make any drawings with the pen. I don’t know what I was doing wrong.

I shouldn’t have to do anything else to get back to drawing after using the transform tool. Now I can’t continue doing the drawing. All because I decided to use the transform tool. There’s something wrong. I just don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if this is a serious bug.

The new ASP 3.2 release has some nice features. One of them is luminosity lock. But I’m noticing something I never experienced before during color selection in the color swatch wheel. And that’s the strange sight of the hockey puck following the Apple Pencil when selecting a color. I just noticed this when testing the luminosity lock. If I didn’t know any better I’d be concerned this was a case of a memory leak or a program bug. Now I’m not so sure. In any case, the fact I’m noticing this now suggests this behavior is new and I hope this can either be addressed in a bug fix or if this is an animation “feature”..then I’d like to turn this off because I’m finding this behavior distracting.

I downloaded the update today for ASP 3.2 and noticed something immediately. The color circle swatch wheel is missing. I only get the square color swatch. Please fix.

Just noticed this right now. When you open ASP in split screen mode the icons to the end of the screen do not respond to Apple Pencil taps on the icons on the menubar. This needs a fix ASAP.

Edit. I just found out that the icons work and respond but only if there is a document OPEN. Otherwise the icons on the toolbar don’t respond to Apple Pencil tapping. Disregard.

If you Google Procreate 5.2 they show off some screenshots of the upcoming new features. They included audio feedback of everything you do, AR or 3D art. If this means Procreate is getting the emboss property watch out. That means 3D tools are coming to Procreate. But what I’d like to discuss is a screenshot that impressed me about an upcoming new palette feature…Cards.

Apparently you can now see all the color choices in chunky large squares with their color palette IDs! This means you can scroll through the color palettes choosing colors more quickly. Hey Lucky Clan…can you one up Procreate and release this feature before they do?

The Copic color system is a curated listing of colors in the Copic marker set which carries 300 or 400 different shades. Each shade of the Copic color marker had a number on it identifying the exact color so you know what shade you use in your artwork. Sketchbook Pro has this and I miss being able to simply choose from that grid of colors. It made choosing colors so easy because I could then switch to the regular color Swatch and choose a more exact shade. I hope Artstudio Pro could get this.

I was using the keyboard shortcut toggle “D” for the blend tool when I saw that it caused the Favorites Presets Toolbar to lose focus. Since the blend tool is adjusting the strokes of using whatever brush you have selected in Favorites Presets Toolbar - the Blend tool could act as a toggle with that brush. So losing focus in this case would be a mistake. Because if you have a keyboard shortcut toggle with the Blend tool...why would the shortcut cause the Favorites Presets Toolbar to lose focus for? It doesn’t make sense that invoking a keyboard shortcut would cause the Favorites Preset Toolbar to lose focus like this. After all...I’m not tapping on the other toolbars for the Favorites Presets to lose focus. I was simply using a keyboard shortcut. Can this behavior be fixed so that using a keyboard shortcut DOESN’T cause the Favorites Presets Toolbar to lose focus? Thanks.

Got the update this morning. I didn’t see anything in the notes on whether the issue with the Reference View lockup issue was fixed or not. Can you at least tell us if this was fixed in this update this morning?

I don’t like the color swatch habit that ASP does when adding colors...the new color swatch takes up the ENTIRE length of the color bar. Please follow Procreate in this implementation and just allow new color swatches to be small color squares only. This way when manually adding colors to the bar won’t force users to manually adjust the location of the color swatches to take up less space on the bar.

Now this is the one feature I'd like to see the Favorites Preset Toolbar get. You can save multiple copies of brushes with different widths. Why not give the ability to saving colors to that brush and saving it to be used later? No more clicking on the color bar or the color wheel. You preset the color for that brush, save it in the Favorites Preset Toolbar and forget about needing to load the brush up with color. This would be a fantastic time saver. Please, Lucky Clan. Do it.

Just letting you know...Procreate is looking at your implementation of the Favorites Presets Toolbar idea and may bring this to Procreate as well. My idea of adding colors to the brush to the Favorites Preset Toolbar would be a nice improvement and icing on the cake for features on the version in ASP. Don't let Procreate one up you on this. I'm simply trying to point out the one feature you can put in this that Procreate may not implement in their version.

One caveat...if you implement this ability...this means you'd need to add a preview to the color for that brush for users to see what color that brush is using.

I’m noticing an issue with the smudge tool. It’s not a bug but apparently it’s something that’s bothering me about the implementation of the smudge tool in ASP that I think needs reworking.

When one thinks of the smudge tool one thinks of blending colors. But the issue with the smudge tool in ASP is that the Smudge tool isn’t blending colors. It’s “hiding” colors instead. For example, if you take two colors side by side and use the smudge tool you’d expect them to seamlessly merge the two colors into one. But that’s not the Smudge tool in ASP is doing. Instead it’s “hiding” the colors. I’m noticing when I try smudging two colors...the smudge tool is introducing a neutral gray color and it’s not one of the two colors I’m trying to blend. Where is this neutral grey color coming from? I would expect the smudge tool to “grab” the colors and mash them together and blend the two colors to make a seamless smooth color. That’s not what’s happening here.
