Hello, I would love an optional "Lock Secondary Color" toggle, which would stop it from auto-changing. This would allow you to get rid of the "third" aux color, having it be the secondary color instead. If not, maybe you could add a brush setting to use the secondary color instead of a third "aux color"?

Right now the secondary color updates to the color you were using whenever you paint with a new color, which may be handy for some workflows, but it makes it difficult to keep a consistent "standby" color while experimenting with new colors. I think an option to lock the secondary color so it stops auto-changing, making it only changeable manually or through switching, would make it more reliable. This would also work neatly with Switch Old/New Color shortcut (which may need to be renamed), as you would have a reliable, consistent color on standby, and could quickly change the secondary color by setting it to the primary one, even when it's locked.

I think this change would also fix the "Aux Color" problem I have, which is that it is tedious to dynamically change the aux color of a brush, as it is a bit of a hidden third color, which you have to manually set each time you want it changed. I understand the reason this was done was that due to the current secondary color implementation being color history, it would make it difficult and frustrating to maintain a consistent aux color for a brush, but this would be remedied by the option to lock the secondary color. For me, globalizing the aux color as the secondary color seems more intuitive, as I think people would intuitively expect the "other" (aux) color to be the secondary one. If you want to maintain the implementation of a fixed aux color while having an unlocked secondary color (personally I find not much benefit for the secondary color being previous color, there is always the recent tab), the option to "use secondary color as aux" in the settings of a brush would also work.

For the UI, maybe Lock Secondary Color would fit neatly under "Add swatch"? Maybe a padlock on the secondary color square instead of it being a color swap? To switch colors you would just tap the primary color rectangle, instead of either one. Though I can see how this might be confusing, as the padlock is used as a luminosity lock for the color circle. Maybe there are better arrangements I'm not thinking of.

Thank you!  :)

Hello, perspective grids are often useful for measuring distance and depth. If the squares maintain a consistent size with the perspective, you can see exactly how an object would measure at a certain distance.

However, Artstudio's perspective grid is inconsistent, and the squares stretch and squish with the perspective.

Here is what a normal perspective grid looks like.

Hello, is it meant to be that there is only smoothing on the lasso tool when auto close is turned on? If I want to be able to lift my pencil then I can't take advantage of the smoothing feature. (which is really great that you added to the lasso tool by the way!)

I use a keyboard for shortcuts, and use command in some of my shortcuts: ⌘

Holding the command key, and then scrolling through brushes while it's held will crash the app every single time without fail.

If a group has a pigment layer in it, a clipping mask layer on the group does not do anything. Is this a bug, or a byproduct of the pigment layer mode?

A workaround is simply to select the group and mask the clipping layer, just reporting a potential bug.

Hello, not sure if this was always a thing but now when horizon assist is turned on along with snap to perspective grid, your lines also snap in the horizontal direction, so if the horizon line is flat lines will snap to an invisible 180 degree line.

I can see why this would be useful, but when the perspective grid is in two point and one of the vanishing points is very far away, it can be frustrating because I keep accidentally drawing on to the 180 degree line. However, I still would like to be able to snap to the vertical horizon. I understand that one solution could be to use a 3rd vanishing point without horizon assist, but often I would like perfectly vertical lines instead of ones going to a 3rd vanishing point.

It would be nice if it was possible to turn of the horizontal horizon assist, thank you.

The title is pretty self explanatory, though it is only when you raise the saturation, lowering it works fine. here's a video of how the bug looks like.

I don't know if this is a bug or working as intended, but when you group a layer with a pigment layer changing the grouped layer's blending mode does something weird to the pigment layer.

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Outdated autosave system
on: May 15, 2022, 09:27:25 PM
I think the current autosave implementation is pretty outdated. Artstudio only autosaves after every certain period of time, minimum of one minute.
1. If working on a large file, autosave can take an annoyingly long time to finish. It pauses everything and you have to wait until it's done.

2. Artstudio delays autosave if you're painting, only saving when you aren't doing anything. This sort of makes sense because if it interrupted you every single minute it would be incredibly obtrusive. However this can be annoying because say I work 10 minutes nonstop and the app crashes, throughout those 10 minutes it doesn't autosave a single time, so I'm back 10 minutes.

So my question is why doesn't artstudio autosave seamlessly after every step? I hope it has the capability of implementing this as it would solve every single problem, and I think this is what every software out there does except Artstudio.

Hello, I know there's been a lot of suggestions lately, but I'd like to throw in the one that I feel more strongly about.
I'm sorry if there's an option for this that I'm not aware of.

Often times a problem I have in many software is when trying to fill in a space, there's a small little gaps or even pixels that don't allow for a fill, and it ends up filling the entire page. So I have to hunt for these gaps and fill them in manually, which can be a bit tedious and inconvenient for line art.
So I was hoping to request some kind of feature that solves this. Here's a picture that should make it more clear what I mean.

Thank you for reading, and your hard work!

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Flow and Opacity slider
on: May 28, 2021, 12:03:34 AM
I was wondering if there could be an option to have both flow and opacity sliders. It doesn't have to replace the current system, but maybe an option in preferences to have it this way? This is how I'd imagine it'd look like.

Thank you! :)

Hello, often while studying values, saturations and color in general, I like moving the color picker around and observing the HSB values, or observing the selection of color used. In Artstudio Pro, the color only updates once you have let go of the eyedropper. I think it would be a neat feature- if possible- to have the color update as you move the eyedropper around.

Thank you!
