Help / copying groups of layers
on: December 29, 2020, 12:21:41 PM
Is it possible, after putting layers into a group, to copy the group in such a way that you can then separate the copied group back into separate layers again?  As far as I can tell this is not possible.  Copying and the pasting a group seems to result in just a flattened layer of all the layers that had been in the group, with no "ungroup" option.  Please advise.  (ASP iPad version.)

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Quick Menu

(1) More options.  You have said you don’t plan more “soon.”  So when?  This is a great tool.  A ninth choice would fit into current footprint.  Please consider!
(2) I am not seeing an option to view layers in Quck Menu.  Is that available?  It’s oppressive to have to seek out the little layers icon in its remote location, especially after you get in the habit of relying on QM for most actions.  Please consider adding this option.

BUT DON’T CHANGE QM TOO MUCH!!

(1) i turned ‘show cursor’ on and then later off to see what happened and now it will not go away even though off!  how to get rid of?  (2) how to get rid of cursor-like dot that has appeared with lasso selection? formerly selection would just snap together but now must return to irritating dot. (3) can tools be rearranged?  i’d like to push less useful ones to bottom or get rid of.

re past questions:  (1) undo changed itself into curving arrow at bottom, did not in fact disappear, though still a button saying ‘undo’ on my other ipad, a mystery. (2) THANKS SO MUCH for deciding to make ‘transform’ mutifinger.  i hope this means you are also restoring the combined move/scale/rotate function.  this would return outstandingly useful function from original AS.

oh no!  somehow redo/undo disappeared.  how do i get it back?  also, have you given further thought to your consideration of restoring original Art Studio's combined move/scale/rotate feature (as you said you would a few weeks ago)?  it is ENORMOUSLY DIFFICULT to adjust to not having this excellent feature anymore in ASP, plus the (poor) "transform" replacement cannot simply be pinched and adjusted with fingers unless (annoying) you are careful to stick to transformation handles.  this has made ASP nowhere near as satisfying as the original.

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / undo and redo need streamling
on: June 28, 2018, 12:08:31 PM
ASP undo/redo seems to be downgrade from undo/redo in original AS.  Strangely, a single tap on "undo" does not in fact undo, undo must be done by then having to tap on a side-pop ("undo paint") or tapping again on "undo."  The point of this set-up is lost on me.  Why not just have a simple "undo" to undo?  Repeated tapping is time-consuming.  (And "undo paint" seems to make no sense because you may, for example, be undoing eraser, not that notification of "undo paint" would be helpful anyway.)
Worse, redo seems to be available only as a three-finger tap on screen.  Awful.  If you are using a stylus, you have to put it down to make this tap, instead of proceeding seamlessly with tap-tap-tap through virtually all other steps used in ASP.
Have I missed something here?  Is there something in Preferences or elsewhere that will create simple undo and redo keys?

As huge fan of Art Studio, I have only grudgingly started using AS Pro.  While it has undoubted advantages (see below), it unfortunately lacks several important features of the original.  Developer feedback would be appreciated, particularly if I have missed the new locations of old features I am seeking.

1.    It seems only 20 undo's are allowed, in contrast to an unlimited number.  UH OH!  Bad news.  Undo's also have odd, seemingly pointless pop-out option, redo's tricky, screen must be tapped just right.
2.    The terrific move/scale/rotate option has been replaced with clunky move option plus, found elsewhere, scale or rotate options, terrible, takes long time to accomplish what original tool did with just a pinch.  THIS NEEDS FIXING URGENTLY.
3.    A copied and pasted selection is not in the same place in the new layer.  Seems obvious bug here.
4.    Alpha lock now takes two steps on layers drop-down, whereas previously just one.  Huh?  Dumb.
5.    It'd be nice to have a custom default for new image sizes.

That said, I will persist with ASP because of much greater number of layers for given resolution / lots more brushes and palettes / easy coordination with iCloud / ability to feather selections.  This new app also has a ton of detailed innovations that are clearly pleasing finicky users (see forum, etc.) BUT IT ALSO NEEDS TO GO BACK TO A FEW VITAL BASICS OF THE ORIGINAL ART STUDIO AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
