Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Bug after update

After the recent update, the brush is not stroking if I put down hand on the screen before the tip of the apple pencil. Is it just me?

I'm not saying swipe, Artstudio is incredibly customisable- I bring up the Quick Menu with a finger tap. My hand stays in one position- I use my index finger to quickly bring up the menu, select something with either the pencil or a tap- and get straight back to it.

Now connect a keyboard, and use shortcuts. How does that compare with <tap, bring up the menu, then select> ?
Having tool bar on the left side was similar to having keyboard.

You can't even rest your palm on the screen to activate Quick Menu. How does that compare with the feeling of having keyboard?

Exactly my sentiment, OP.
Oh and try switching to Pencil input only. I never trust Palm rejection, and all the gestures still work.

It’s just emotional blackmailing:)

I noticed you keep posting this kind of remark to people expressing remorse over the app's big change.
Stop muddling their posts please. You don't know what other people's motivation is.

You should talk to Iris Scott haha.

Here's a solution to your issue: it really doesn't matter where the tools are placed as long as you have the Quick Menu.

Not really. You are comparing <Swipe + Select> to <One thumb touch>
If you are a real pro, you never want to change your drawing hand position to Swipe, Select, all that extra move.

And here is the question. I suppose users don't need all icons on the left. Please tell me - maybe adding only Eraser button (activating and deactivating it, or maybe hold pressed) would be enough?

Having access to many tools on screen was your app's selling point over Procreate.
Having only Eraser doesn't win that. You had very good working app. Why remove all that people loved.

Keeping the left tool bar, but  giving option to remove certain tools a user doesn't use would have been the better move.

More canvas space? We already had that option to hide all palettes. And do you really want to remove what people loved for that?

At least, give us the option to go back to earlier version.

Sorry for that, but this change was necessary to make more space for canvas.
If you constanly switch between Paint and Eraser, maybe you could configure your finger as Eraser?

That is the worst response.
I thought you guys were making a professional app for real professionals, not for finger painters.

I'm a long user of this great app.

But today, I was shocked that they removed the tools on the left side.

The main reason I moved from Procreate was the ability to switch tools instantaneously with your left thumb. You can compare it with using keyboard shortcuts. Left hand is for shortcuts. And you shouldn't be forced to move that hand up and down. Just like your keyboard shortcuts. Left hand always stays. Only fingers move. Nobody wants to keep moving their hands up and down to select tools.

It's really a shame.
I'm switching to Procreate. At least they have a little square on the left to switch tools.

Suggestions, Ideas, Bugs / Love your update!!!

Love how you did updated!
It solved a lot of issues I had and emailed you about.

One thing I wish have in your next update is the ability to put Color Toolbar on the left side below drawing tools, just small, a few swatches are enough.

The reason is I always have this nice feature hidden because it accidently activated by hand because it is on the right side. I’m not sure if anyone is having this on.

I know I have it on the left side in full screen. But then I lose all other tools close to my left hand for quick access. And I have to click a few more times to select a tool I want(the top toolbar).

Another solutuion is having this Color Toolbar only clicable with pen, and not hand. That way accidental click by palm is avoided.

Thanks for your work.
