Please add the option for left main toolbar in 2.4 for iPad
The move of the main toolbar from left to top is not convenient.
-
I like the Toolbar at the top. It could be smaller to save more screen space, but the placement is good. It’s faster to access now
-
I will leave an 1 star app store rating. The placement of the toolbar should be customizable. If you are using an 12.9” device in portrait mode or a trackpad or mouse the main toolbar on the top isn’t convenient. There is a reason why in professional software the main toolbar is on the left side. From a professional point of view in landscape mode mainly the display high is needed, not the width.

You can make suggestions and the developers hear you, but Don’t terrorize them with a bad rating when you don’t like one of the changes. Be fair ;)

1 star for 10 years of Artstudio development? You are cruel ;)

I prefer on top. It's faster, now you can have more buttons.
I also like the size. Smaller size will make harder the long pressure to swap tool with same brush (as in Procreate).
Ideally (in desktop software), the toolbar must be on the left and movable. On top the tool options. And finally the tool palettes everywhere and / or stackable. But... i guess toolbar on top is the best best for touch interfaces.
In addition, iPad screens are 4:3, not widescreen as computer monitors. You don't loose much space as in PC software. Also, many Tool Option bars are proportionally much bigger than Artstudio Pro top toolbar (on iPad).

Bars on top or bottom reduce image height
-
The main reason to remove right and bottom toolbars was to prevent accidental toolbar touches when holding palm on screen.
The other, less important reason was to make more space. It is less important because you can quickly switch to full screen mode to get whole screen as painting area.
-
Anyway the switch to toggle normal and painting mode in 2.3 was a good solution. Will 3.0 (2.4) be released as independent version or have users to turn auto update off to prevent the update?
-
It will be normal update. But i really recommend the update, the UI is much better, you will see it after you start using it.
-
I do like the new UI. It is just what the doctor ordered for the iPad. Keep up the good work! :)

Wether the height or the width is more important does not depend on the device, screen nor the program/app. It only depends on the ratio of your canvas. When the canvas is wider than the iPad, width is more important. When the canvas Is higher, height is more important. Saying that the height is more important when you work “professionally” is incorrect.
Artstudio (as well as other apps like procreate) use both, sliders on the left, and a toolbar at the top. This is standard on the iPad, because it works. Don’t worry too much about it, you will get used to it. It’s not a huge difference ;)
-
Agree too, that canvas height is more important for professional work: Print, Packaging, Art.
-
No, you can’t make General statements like that, “professional “ work is not standardized, there is not one canvas size, but many different sizes. I am a designer, I have done all Kinds of professional work for decades and can give you many examples for both height and width. In fact from my experience canvas sizes are wider more often than not, and widescreen displays are getting more and more popular for that reason. Height is ONLY more important when the ratio of the canvas vertically causes empty space, otherwise the opposite is true. When you say height is more important You can only speak for yourself, not for every “professional “ in the world. I prefer it at the top, because My canvas sizes are mostly wider than the Ipad, and the position at the top is perfect.
You can ask for custom settings to move it to the left, but don’t say it has to be there for professional work. That’s not true ;)
BTW, you mentioned print, why? Print sizes also are wider than the iPad, so the toolbar at the top is ideal. Look at this A4 canvas, so you see how width is more important in this case: ;D

Magazine and book pages in landscape mode? Serious? Your opinion is also your personal one. Do not consider yourself authoritative.
-
Yes, I am serious, I often worked with horizontal A4 pages, you would be surprised. That’s exactly my point, You can’t say one is more important, they both are, for different purposes. No reason to insult me, I never said it’s for magazines.
