Title: Beta 2.2 bug report on ios 13 beta
Post by: Pri Vacy on June 18, 2019, 08:54:03 AM
- Some layers disappear while hiding/unhiding layers (happens mostly, if not exclusively, with layers that cannot be seen without scrolling the layers list). This includes groups, masks, adjustments layers and everything else.

- The outline cursor shape works great but since it does not have black/white outline as opposed to the old circle, it cannot easily be seen on darker backgrounds. It does also not seem to be using antialiasing and so it is quite low res.

- Color, brush, layers and other popups do not display as intended if switching from another app, either via dock or home icon. They display properly if using the bottom bar swipe gesture.

- (Also present in iOS 12 and App Store version) If a layer is hidden just before zooming out the view, the thumbnail beeing zoomed still shows the hidden layer but it's updated upon reaching the minimum zoom level (3%). This also happens if the layer is unhidden.

- The app preview in the task manager appears stretched if the screen orientation is changed

Just one thing to add right now

  - drawing beginning taper feels off somehow. Like it isn't being calculated immediately. Not sure if it has to do with the double pressure curve (which is great!). But makes drawing feel off a bit. Love some of the other improvements though :)

Sorry should have been more specific!

https://ibb.co/CPvjD4X (https://ibb.co/CPvjD4X)

If you check this image ^ hopefully it demonstrates what I’m seeing, I circled in red where it’s really noticeable. Where you can really see it is in my box test and dagger strokes. It feels/ looks like a taper is being applied to the beginning of my stroke, immediately followed by my stroke being a little blown out (Wider&darker) than expected. You can kind of see it in my circle test too.

All my brush curves (Global & brush) are set to be flat. It’s kind of difficult to explain but it just really changes the drawing experience from the current release. Let me know if I can provide any additional details! :)

Could you send me the  brush you used to draw that?

Disappearing layers - The issue can be reproduced by creating some random groups (15-20) and hiding/unhiding one of them some times. All the layers below the 12th will flash every time and after some tries they will disappear until a layer is touched. In order for this to be reproduced the layers panel has to be scrolled down and show at least the 12th layer starting from the top of the panel. Image attached

'popups do not display as intended' - Happens if re-entering the app using the dock or the home screen icon. Does not happen if gestures are used. Image attached

Hope it's clear enough

FYI this happens with all brushes not just the custom brush. I've been testing different settings but cannot seem to pinpoint what could be causing the beginning of the stroke to act this way.

Okay tested on latest beta / same results. Basically my stroke doesn’t start where it should. It starts late. Also I cannot seem to achieve fully opaque color & looks like I’m not getting the full range of pressure. I’ll try and do another demo / diagram tomorrow to show what I’m experiencing.

I’m on an iPad Pro (latest) 12.9”, 2nd gen Apple Pencil. Also running iPadOS.

We improved antiliasing and taper in version 2.2 beta. Now stroke start/end is sharper, which makes it sometimes hardly visible.
I think it can be the problem. To improve that you can use higher 'Min Opacity, 'Min Flow' and 'Min Size' values or adjust their curves.

Yep looks like this is exactly what I was experiencing! I think I can change values around and get things to feeling the way they were.
I did notice in Procreate that they have a 'tip sharpness' toggle - something like that would be nice, but I realize that may be a difficult piece of code to abstract out.

Anyway, loving the rest of the beta!  ;D

You can now customize stroke start/end using per brush pressure curves

We fixed that in latest build and i cannot reproduce that now. Could you send me your test document?

This is just a test created to check if it only happens with old files but every document is affected

Edit: the name is also not fully shown even if there's enough room

Edit 2: uninstalling and reinstalling the app does not fix the issue
