Title: Photo painting?

Hi,

I’m sorry if this has been asked before. I’ve searched the forums, but can’t find any information on my query.

I was wondering if there was any way in AS Pro to “paint” photos like you can in apps such as Corel Painter, ArtRage and Adobe PaintCan. I don’t mean auto painting where you click a button and the app does it for you, but rather an option where you can pick a brush and have the app select a colour automatically from the source photo. I thought perhaps the reference layer option would do this, but have had no luck experimenting with it. I know you can use the smudge brush to pick up colour from the underlying image, but this is not really what I’m looking for. As I said I’m looking for an option to clone the source photo using the paint brushes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it can be possible, but to be honest i don't know how it works in Corel Painter and other apps you mentioned. Could you show me a video from other apps showing your request?
