In the latest iPad OS 13 and ASP latest betas I am not able to import abr any longer. Please check.
-
Same here
-
I think it is general iOS 13 bug. I cannot open any file from email. I have to use Files.
-
Yes, it might be an iPadOS 13 bug. Share also doesn’t show ASP option for copying files.
-
I just updated to IpadOs 13.1, and I still can't find a way to open abr files...
I tried with the "Files" app, with "Documents" app (the way I did before), by using the import feature in ArtStudio Pro and by dragging the into ASP.
Adobe Sketch is the only art related app showing in the share menu.

We need more details to help you.
First of all - where do you store abr files?
-
Thanks for the reply :)
I was under the impression it wasn't an issue specific to me.
They are stored in the local storage of my Ipad.
I've also tried from the "Documents" folder and from a samba shared folder (both throuh the "Documents" app and the "Files" apps).
I haven't from Icloud folder tho...
To be honest I'am kind of new to the ios ecosystem and I found the file organisation quite puzzling...
-
Sorry, i cannot reproduce this problem.
I have succefully imported abr files stored in iCloud, local folder.
Both from Files app (Share, then Open In..., then Artstudido Pro), and from Artstudio Pro app itself. Also using Airdrop.
Both on iOS 12 and iOS 13.
-
Okay thanks, I'll keep looking.
Just for the sake of safety, you mention IOS 13 but I'am on IpadOs 13.1
I did an other test :
- I put two files in a folder on the local storage (1 .abr and 1 .artstudio_brushes)
- Inside ASP, I use the "Import ABR/TPL/Arstudio" function wich open the internal filebrowser
- I navigate to the folder where my 2 files are stored
=> The Artstudio format is fine, and it creates a new brush group when clicked on it.
But the abr file apprears greyed out and no action is launched when clicked on it.
Also, when i open a .artsudio_brush file from the "Files" application, ArtStudio app is launched, but no other action is done.
Meaning the brushset is not imported.
The same behavior occurs with artstudio project files (If open from outside of ArtStudio pro app, the app is launched but the project file is not open)
Edit:
I should add that after trying to open a artstudio project from outside the app, the possibility to open any project from the ArtStudio galery is not working anymore.
The galery is closed but nothing open.
Only closing and opening the app has fixed this issue so far

I have the same problem, albeit on iOS 12.4.1. I can share .ABR and .TPL files from Files app to ASP but I can only open .TPL files from inside ASP. .ABR files are greyed out and inaccessible. In Affinity Designer it is the other way around - .ABR files are accessible whereas .TPL files are greyed out and inaccessible. The odd thing is, though, that while .TPL files have an ASP icon, .ABR files have an Affinity Designer icon. It is as if these two apps have divided .ABR and .TPL files between them and guard them ferociously against each other. :D

Please try to use ipad drag and drop to import abr/tpl.
-
Drag & drop from Files app does nothing.
If you drag and drop a jpg file for instance, you get a plus sign in a green circle appering next to the item you're dragging, when over the ASP app.
That's not the case when dragging an abr file. The item dragged just go back to the Files app, not triggering any visible action.
-
Could you record that on video and send me it?
-
Yup

To keep everyone posted...
My problem was not related to ASP.
File association has been broken (either by the IpadOs update, installing Adobe Fresco or uninstalling Adobe Sketch...)
Either way, after re-installing Adobe Sketch, it all sorted out and everything is working fine.... Go figure
Edit : I was curious and I just uninstalled Adobe Sketch for the second time...
File association broke again.. guess I'am stuck with Adobe sketch on my Ipad for now...
-
File association is broken, yes. And it appears to be a general iPadOS problem, not just related to iPadOS 13, because I haven't upgraded to v13 yet. Uninstalling and reinstalling Sketch did nothing for me. Instead it seems, for me at least, to be related to Affinity Designer (or Artstudio Pro), but I am not going to uninstall either to test it. That leaves two common denominators: iOS/iPadOS and Artstudio Pro.
-
One more idea - maybe it is broken when you have at least two Adobe apps, for example Fresco and Sketch...
-
I have both, but when I uninstalled Sketch nothing changed. And I seem to remember it was broken even before I installed Fresco. I know I have seen these greyed-out icons before, a while back.
-
Have you found any solutions to this? It seems like affinity photo/designer have hijacked ownership of the files and I can’t import them into Artstudio or procreate at all. It’s been very frustrating
-
You can share ABR (and TPL) brush sets from Files app to Artstudio Pro. You can't import Photoshop brushes into Procreate, though. Not yet, anyway. I think v5 is set to change that.
-
The solution is to first save abr file in Files, then import it from Artstudio by tapping Share icon in the Brush Editor.
-
I was also experiencing this problem. ABR files were defaulting to an association with affinity designer, or photo. Once I removed those programs ABR files were no longer grayed out. I’m not sure if this a file association problem on iPadOS or with art studio.
Currently the ABR file is associating with adobe fresco and it appears to be working fine in Art Studio.

About the workaround i put above:
"The solution is to first save abr file in Files, then import it from Artstudio by tapping Share icon in the Brush Editor."
Abr file must be stored in iCloud Drive to make it work!
If you store it on 'On My iPad' - the workaround will not work.
